This Thursday 6th May see's the second round of Platt Fields Go-Ride Racing Summer Series.

Aimed at novice BMX riders and new riders in the sport, the racing will be fun and action packed.

Open to all under 16 novices! Come along and give racing a go.

Tonights session is all about skills work on and off the BMX Track. The session will be fast moving and fun!

Holiday Camp and Go-Ride Race Report

This Easter Holiday, Manchester City Council and British Cycling ran a Holiday Camp leading into a Go-Ride Race at Platt Fields Park BMX Track.

During the four day camp, three and a half days consisted of race focussed coaching. Twenty five young people attended the camp over the four days, and consisted of new youth club riders, riders from local schools and riders completely new to BMX.


The race day consisted of a coached warm up, 3 moto qualifiers and a final. Twenty three riders took part in the racing which was close and competitive. Many parents stayed to watch, creating a good atmosphere that was helped by the fantastic weather. All riders taking part received a medal and a water bottle for taking part.

Integrating a series of coaching sessions with a Go-Ride Race has proved an effective way of moving riders on from coaching to racing. We will continue this seamless approach throughout the summer by doing the same at Youth Club sessions and Holiday Camps, providing further opportunities to race BMX as a novice in Manchester.

Holiday Camp!

4 Days of BMX coaching will take place this week at Platt Fields BMX Track. On the last day there will be a Go-Ride Race for all taking part.

Sessions run from 10:00-12:00 and cost £10 for all 4 days.

Limited bikes, helmets and equipment are available on a first come, first served basis

Power Hour!

The first Power Hour of the tax year takes place this Thursday at Platt Fields. This high intensity session is aimed at all under 18's!

Gate Balance!

Tuesday nights youth club will spend time working on gate balance. All abilities now welcome.

Platt Fields BMX Go-Ride Racing Summer Series!

This summer will see a series of five Go-Ride Races held at Platt Fields BMX track!

With newcomers to the sport the focus, each event will be held at either the end of a Platt Fields holiday camp, or at the end of a 3 week coaching plan with Manchester BMX Youth Club. We expect this to help make the transition into racing as smooth as possible.

It is also hoped that these events will act as a stepping stone for riders to progress into Club, Regional, and National competition.

All under 16's welcome who are new to the sport!

Saturday Slam Round 6

Manchester BMX Club will be hosting the final round of their winter series today at Platt Fields BMX Track.

Registration 3pm-3:30pm and racing should start around 4pm.

Youth Club and Club Night - TONIGHT from 5!

Manchester BMX Youth Club will kick off a night of Club activity with the introduction of the 'Power Half Hour!' Coaches present will be Tim Williams, Roger Wilbraham and Sam Foakes to offer advice in this high intensity session.

Straight after this will be Manchester BMX Club, open to all ages for gate practice. This is a great chance to meet and ride with the local racers.

Monday Night Session

Come and try the new third straight at Platt Fields BMX Track.

Todays opening hours are:

12:00 - 16:00 Adults and Bookings

16:00 - 21:00 Free riding open to all - last entry 20:00

£3:30 for under 18's including bike hire or £1:10 with your own bike.

£4:40/£5:50 for adults including BMX/Cruiser hire or £2:20 with own bike.

Track Changes - CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY!

Manchester BMX Club are making some changes to the third straight over this weekend. These should be complete by Sunday. Normal opening times will resume next Monday.

Manchester BMX Regional

Manchester BMX Regional took place yesterday and saw a fantastic turn out of riders from all ages and abilities.

Go-Ride Racing teamed up with the event to put on races for new comers to the sport. It saw 28 novice riders battle it out in some close and exiting racing.

The region was represented to the max with a great turn out in all classes.

To finish off the day was an action packed Payback final with Kyle Evans taking a strong victory for Hard Knox.
